Females In Sports

So my friend Carissa and her boyfriend Invited me out to a football game. Her coworker was playing. But this was a league for women (WFA) and we were cheering on the Chicago Force! Yes the rugged, rough and hard hitting game of american football was being played by women!
and I realized that women Team sports are hardly paid attention to.
we ocassionaly have the volleyball games, swimming and such during the Olympics and then Mostly tennis, which my friend noted was the only sport where the men playing and the women playing are considered equal, and gender or sexuality played no role. wow so true!
But that's definitely not the case with the other contact sports
Basketball worked and got their women's league (WNBA) but games are very rarely televised.
yet alone Women's football. and the other "football" (soccer) does also get minimal coverage.
I don't know if there's even a hockey or rugby team for women except in colleges.
and some of the women who play these sports are marginalized for thier masculinity and sexuality
A.K.A Being Lesbians.
while that holds some truth, who is to say there are no Gay men playing in the NFL, NBA, NHL.
but those get the Up most exposure and interest. why can't the women do the same?
do people just not care about female sports?
why is it so common world wide?
Is there no money In having female leagues or broadcasting their games?
As a Straight Woman I do love the NBA, NHL and NFL, but would like to be given a chance to catch their female counter parts on my TV and weigh it out. Then again maybe I should just support my Local female teams and leave it at that.
I know I had fun cheering on the Force, even though they got stuffed 40 something to 20 something

Chelsea Fc Transfer Tango!

OK the team (love) of my life Chelsea has been quiet on the transfer market this summer. a couple of reasons, first we welcomed a new, young and awesome coach Andre Villas-Boas, second we spent  big money in January on Torres and Luiz (my man!) so I get it. As for the new coach  I absolutely love him and know he will do great things at Stamford bridge. Plus is just me or does he look like an older Lionel Messi?  Any way I want him to be our Sir Ferguson, but I won't get into that now.  AVB has suspended all purchases/transfers because he wanted to evaluate his squad first and make some determinations, Brilliant! now here's my take on the Issue

STRIKER
So right now Chelsea has Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres, Nicolas Anelka, Daniel Sturridge (out on loan), Salomon Kalou as strikers.
Now there are talks of Hulk  following AVB from Porto, Neymar from Santos, Lukaku from Anderlecht and Falcao from Porto also.
Now that's a whole lot of forwards, out of all these I am most drawn to Falcao.  He has Anelka's speed and  the "goal scoring" touch and much more of Kalou. He however also wears the number 9, so there might be some awkwardness.  If we do sign him, I say a televised dance battle for the number 9 is the way to go!
Neymar would be awesome, his skills are amazing, but  don't know how he'd fair the Premier League, I'd welcome his showmanship  though!
All this means we have to offload.
Anelka for sure should go, we appreciate our golden boot winner, but its time to move on.
Salomon Kalou too. Thank you so much for the goals, we wish you the best.
Daniel Sturridge is quite talented, I want him on the first team!
Fernando Torres we love you, simple as that, but why do I feel that you feel like an outsider? relax and do what you do, score Goals and believe me when I say we've got your back against those pesky haters!
As for Didier Drogba Gosh I am still weighing everything and will have a blog just for him!

MIDFIELDERS
Well Chelsea has Yossi Benayoun, Michael Essien, Florent Malouda, John Obi Mikel, Ramires, Yuri Zhirkov, Josh McEachran and Frank Lampard.
Now there are Talks of Luca Modric,  Joao Moutinho, Javier "El Flaco" Pastore, Wesley Sneijder and possibly Samir Nasri. To make it easy for me
Benayoun, Zhirkov, Mikel and Malouda can get us some cash, done.
Michael Essien, in all his greatness seems to be Injury plagued (injured himself in preseason training, estimated absence unknown) and am sure as hell not gonna take that chance. Sign Luca Modric Now!
Javier "El Flaco" Pastore  Watched Highlights of him, and I must say I want him, I want him, I repeat I want Him. AVB Chelsea needs El Flaco!
Sneijder I like, If he's signed good, if not Oh Well.
Samir Nasri, It won't happen, if it does hey Great.
Joao Moutinho, Goodness me are we to take the entire Porto team now?
Frank Lampard, obviously will retire at chelsea, but age is creeping up and again I say Sign Luca Modric Now!

DEFENDERS
We are covered in this department.
But I hear Bayern Munich wants Alex: Show us the Money!
I hear Juventus wants Bosingwa: Show us the Money!
Then I very much welcome Gary Cahill
and if AVB decides to sign That Van der wiel Kid, that's good

With that my team should be in for a Glorious Season
Blue is and will always be the Color!

"Veni, Vidi, Vici" Tattoo

The famous words of Julius Caesar meaning "I came, I saw, I conquered".  I have seen and heard it often , but it struck me deeper today. I woke, feeling slightly vacant. There could have been many reasons for this,  maybe the hunger pangs, short sleep,  social troubles or the firing of Carlo Ancelotti (now former coach of my beloved Chelsea).  This phrase was among a few others that I am debating  getting a tattoo of.  I thought this  morning, Caesar,  I know just the basics about the man and my super active brain began contemplating what his exact thought was as he uttered this phrase. Was it just a method of encouragement ? self assurance or even prophetic?  To me, it seemed a phrase to be uttered on one's death bed (if we are as lucky). laying there  looking back  on the life lived as the end approaches, perhaps with some or none of our sense.  Did we really "come" or just exist?  did we  really "see" or just look? did we really "conquer" or just finish? How  does one go about answering such questions with all the impossible and varying analysis that come with it?
So I brought the words home and began to wonder  what they truly  meant to me,  a 21 year old still finding her way to personal identity. Is there a criteria or level  for me to " come, see and conquer"  right now? will this criteria be the same when I am not so young?  if I do not make it to a complete and peaceful death bed am I removed or exempt from  " coming, seeing and conquering"  accomplished column?  What about the personal, social, political, economical and religious paths I walk each day are they adding to the notion?  More importantly is this to be evaluated from the view of the world or my view?  Then I realized that it is a combination of both.  Of course the world's take and view is overwhelming,  which sometimes means I  mistake them for mine.
But it hit me that even-though I am no emperor, "wisdom" is my "coming" "understanding" is my "seeing" and "knowledge" is my "conquering".  doing all i can to Know and learn , everyday, about my world physically, emotionally, intimately and expansively in all aspects, marks the difference and significance with which I live life.  And yes, I realize the irony, of this revelation coming from the idea of a tattoo. But that tattoo now holds a daily reminder for me.
